Summary

In today’s environment many health and aged care organisations increase reliance on complex IT solutions that support their operations. These systems bring many enhancements to daily operations, improving the service and customer satisfaction via quicker response time, efficient asset utilisation and automation of manual tasks.

On the other hand, the same complex IT systems deployed as multiple standalone solutions with each addressing a particular problem may be difficult to integrate into overall business process and often become a challenge when the process needs to be modified.

As a systems integrator, Uplinx Advanced Services believes that these systems must be architected and deployed as a single end-to-end solution built to solve organisational needs and orchestrate all processes. Selection and integration of the individual solution components must be made with an end to end architecture in mind and not as separate platforms, increasing levels of automation and reducing operational costs.

Telephony and Contact Centre Upgrade

Cisco

Summary

The City of Ryde’s previous telephone system was based on the Cisco Call Manager platform. However, the system’s software (version 6) had a sunset clause for technical support which meant that the Council’s communications would be at risk when support ended.

Another issue of concern was the outdated telephone system’s incompatibility with the Council corporate email system, which could not be upgraded with full functionality.

This telephony upgrade offered the opportunity to improve the City of Ryde’s communications and enhance customer services, while at the same time presenting a risk management situation. A central element of risk managing the upgrade was a rigorous and comprehensive procurement process to select the best technology consultancy service provider.

Uplinx Advanced Services was awarded the tender after demonstrating its wealth of knowledge and experience in rolling out Cisco networks, IP Telephony and Contact Centre projects, having successfully implemented large network, wireless and IP telephony projects for many large corporate customers.

“Uplinx has been fantastic, with both the ongoing onsite engineer and the consultant – who advised on the implementation approach and contingency planning – outstanding.”
